| Hopefully we're maintaining our New Year's resolutions towards better health. I'd like to encourage everyone who's not on a conditioning program to start. I believe it will help your performance in the front of the boat. I believe a healthy diet and exercise bring about a positive attitude and, along with it, improved stamina that may improve your angling success. I'll share with you that back in August 2006, I decided it was time for a personal change myself after tipping the scales at 281 lbs! Just by eating 5 to 6 smaller meals daily instead of gorging down 2 to 3 meals a day, has helped me. I'll substitute a juice or water for a desired soda more often. Perhaps a fruit or vegetable tray from 7-11 over a candy bar and chips. For lunch, I'll opt for a salad or chicken breast on wheat over the killer burger and fries. I believe it's ok and more realistic toward long term dieting to treat ourselves to a once a week day off. You'll deserve it! So eat that one day what you want, but keep the portions smaller. My current weight 7 months later is 230 lbs., which feels a lot better on a 6'3" frame. As a precautionary, I'll remind everyone prior to starting a physical conditioning program to undergo a stress test through your physician. Good luck with your life style change and drink lots of water! |
