WELCOME
Thanks for coming by and viewing my website. I get quite a few emails through various fishing forums and phone calls with folks asking for advice on products and other bass fishing information.

Generally at tournament event weigh-ins, I'm addressing anglers who are for the most part, waiting around to collect checks, but the continued growth of our sport, I believe, lies with the anglers that are half way home at that point. These are the anglers I hope to help most with this website. Please feel free to email me with your questions and comments. Together perhaps we can both become further educated in our knowledge and appreciation of our great outdoors.

Isolated Cover and Big Fish
COVER
The first thing you need to do is get permission if you plan on bringing attractors of any form to a corp. of engineers lake.

Understand this about cover. There is a lot of work involved. It can be done from a pontoon, but I can get it done in 20% of the time from my bass boat. Anyone that has seen my boats through the years, knows my boats are first and foremost work horses. Much the way a farmer views his tractors.

Depending on the type, cover can take years to produce and there is a lot of expense involved. There is a lot of trial and error involved in cover placement. Most fisherpersons don't get that involved in their fishing to put forth the effort. An even smaller percentage know where to put cover, yet 100% of bass fisherpersons have caught bass off cover Read more...

Highlighting the 09 Year
At this point 09 has been one of my personal best. As well it should given the current conditions of our North Texas lakes. With 2 wins, 2 seconds & a 5th so far in 6 attempts I'm feeling good about this years progress. What's funny however is how my thoughts reflect back to the one bad finish more then any other. We have to be our own worse critics to excell above the rest in my opinion. With 4th locked up I threw back a 5th under the slot on Fork & went for the win coming up a hair short. I dropped to 34th but with no regrets however because winning is what I'm after everytime I launch my boat. Still not a shabby slugging percentage with top finishes & numbers of big sacks. I praise the Lord for yet another strong year so far. I also appreciate the emails of support toward my efforts for an AOTY title in the largest entry fee event held in North Texas (Media Super Teams). With mostly unfamilar lakes this trail has presented a big challenge for this angler. This is what keeps me hungry & most important I'm having fun again. Thank you sponsors & have a safe summer fellow anglers. We'll see ya'll in the fall.

BudLight Trail - Cedar Creek - 2nd place - (5-21.66 lbs) - $1,082.00
Fishing on his birthday Robby manages another great day on the Creek.
Most of my fish came from the 12-16 ft depth range. The strike zone was small as I deflected deep cranks off cover. These fish were suspended but still relating to the cover. Basically when I made contact I paused the bait in a knock - knock manner & when I continued the retrieve my line would load up. I feel like we really have to give the fish a chance to inhale the crankbait because their mouths are at their softest this time of the year. I didn't miss any so I'm staying with my thoughts with this method for this time of the year.
With it being Fathers day weekend & all we still managed 40+ teams so I'ld say this trail is off to a good start this year. I met some new folks who obviously know how to host a top notch event. I was equally impressed with the polygraph examiner who had a innovative approach to his administration of the exam which I feel can only help preserve the integrity of our sport. Check this trail out anglers it's gonna grow without a doubt.

Media Super Teams - Lake Sam Rayburn - 5th Place - $500.00
Wow you want numbers to catch anglers I can promise you Rayburn is your lake right now. I shared with Gordon at weigh-in that I must have caught 20 limits today which couldn't be an exaggeration by much. The problem with having so much fun was instead of leaving the areas to cull up I tried on an unfamilar lake everything I know to catch bigger then 3 lb fish from my area without much success.
Basically these fish were on outside grasslines in about 12 ft. of water. I had 2 different areas one in Needmore on an extended ridge & another off the island by Powell Park boat ramp. Good Lord were they stacked up. Mag-11 watermelon/red worms on 10 lb test with an 1/8 oz weight was the primary presentation. Teamed with Waterloo's Mag worm rod & of course my Chronarchs, I was good to go.
I want to take the time to recognize our fallen veterans from past those that have served & are still serving to provide us with the freedoms we enjoy everyday. Freedom is not free & we salute you everyday particulary this Memorial Day weekend. With all our lakes crowded & highways this weekend we give thanks to our Lord for providing safe passage on the water as well to & from our destinations. Be blessed.

Media Super Teams Lake Lewisville - 1st Place - $2,000.00
With 5 fish weighing in at 23.18 Robby wins his 1st Media Bass tournament. After missing a win on Fork last month by a 1/16 of an inch & a 2nd place finish earlier this year I was wondering if winning one of these was ever going to happen. I'll tell ya though today was like Holiday in the Park at 6 flags with my kids in that we had a great lake on the schedule with hardly any crowd out on the water. It was a blast! I haven't fished a tourney on Lewisville in 2 years but with recent weights of 22-lb sacks in other tourneys here lately well that was enough to get my competitive juices flowing again. Again the quality of anglers fishing Super Teams Media came through with several nice sacks weighed in.
I keyed in on the shad today. Every fish I caught was coughing up shad. Crankbaits & Spinnerbaits were the bait of choice. Most of my fish except for my biggest caught draggin early came off rock piles. I scrapped my initial game plan & started running & gunning with this backup plan all day.
(To share some fast facts: Robby has won 4 straight tournaments & 5 of his last 6 on Lewisville). It has been quite a run. I'm having fun again which means everything to me at this point with my competitive fishing. The Lord has truely blessed us. I'ld like to invite all anglers to come down with us on Media Bass Super Teams 4th tournament to be held on Sam Rayburn on the 23rd of May if your schedule permits. Be safe & stay in the Lords favor.

26th Annual KCKL (95.9) Big Bass Tournament - Cedar Creek
Robby cashes twice in hourly paybacks with a couple of healthy 5 lb Cedar Creek chunks. Talk about getting a full day in. I fished 1/2 a day of the 2nd day in the 2 day event managing a couple hourly big bass checks. I managed to get back early enough to take the kids to a movie & enjoy a family dinner. Now anglers that's what I call a balanced day! I also caught a 10 lber in a Saturday tournament over the weekend so it was a blessed weekend!

JC Outdoors Spring Trail - Lake Ray Hubbard (1st place -1st place Big Bass)
Robby & Ronnie Rose take first place honors with a 5 fish 29.41 sack of Ray Hubbard toads & 1st place Big Bass honors.
How blessed are we with great fishing lakes here in Texas?
I'm convinced there's not a lake in Texas where their not biting great right now at some point in the day.
Today my partner & I enjoyed the best day I've ever had on Ray Hubbard. Our success was directly related to a strong South wind. Most of our fish came on 3/4 oz Nichols spinnerbait fished with a Waterloo rod & Chronarch reel combo. Our efforts concentrated around staging areas for pre & post spawn bass. Shad were the key in wind blown areas around cover. Our biggest fish was actually caught on a Series 5 Strike King crankbait. Overall I was impressed with alot of great sacks brought into the scales today which is a testament to the quality fishermen participating on this trail. Special thanks to my brother & partner Ronnie for enjoying a day out on the water together . I'ld like to thank JC Outdoors & all of its affilated sponsors for hosting the event. Finally & above all we give the glory to our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ for providing all of us the means to participate in a Christian based event. We are all truly blessed.

Media Super Teams Cedar Creek (2nd Place - $2,000.00)

Robby teams up with partner Ronnie for a 2nd place finish on the Creek. With 25-35 mph winds from the North we decided to concentrate our efforts in one or two areas trying to keep our baits wet. Between 8-10 we caught our limit on chart/white 1 oz chatterbaits barely turning the blade in 2-6ft depths. I chose a black/blue combo & Had the bigger bites but not as many. All these fish were culled when I went to 1/2 oz jig & concentrated on subtle points often bare sand but in the 4-8ft range. This often meant 10 ft in front of a dock or even in between docks. The key here was to slow down & on the drop let the bait sit for up to a 10 count. These fish are very territorial right now. Every fish on the jig was 4 lbs except for one. Everyone knows I don't fish as much as I use to & some of my mechanics are diminishing but more importantly the mental focus isn't where it should be fishing against the areas best. I mishandled a 9 lb fish that I allowed to get under a dock & wrap around a metal post obviously breaking me off. Just distracted for like 3 secs is all it took to lose this tournament. Often if your unfortunate enough to break off a good fish she'll jump in an effort to throw the bait. Such was the case 30 seconds later & we realized just how big the mistake was on my part. None-the-less it was fun spending a day together on the water with my older brother. A precious memory no matter how we finished in the tournament. Thanks Media Bass & affiliated sponsors for hosting the event & of course our Lord & Saviour for bringing all our anglers back safely.

(Affordable Foundation Repair -Robby Rose ) sponsor Christian Anglers Bass Association
I'ld like everyone to challenge their commitment to Christ by supporting an organization who's sole purpose is to support outreach ministries & grow in faith & fellowship. It's a great atmosphere providing an expanded choice of tournament division opportunities catering to our needs with a chance for competing for a fully rigged bass boat every year as well as recognizing most perspective incentive bonus programs.
I can tell you from my experience when I show stewardship to God's work he has blessed me & my family. I realize we have a multitude of competitive trails to choose from & certainly we are blessed with some of the countrys best fishing right here in North Texas. Come join us at C.A.B.A. but more important whatever trail you fish is to always give God his opportunity for glory & recognition when the opportunity presents itself. He'll be your truest supporter in the long run.

C.A.B.A. Mega Team Big Bucks / Tawakoni
Fishing solo Robby manages an 8th place finish in the largest entry fee event for competitive team bass tournament fishing held this year in North Texas.
There were some really good bags of fish brought to the scales today & I congratulate all our high finishers as well all who participated. For this angler Tawakoni continues to be a tough proposition for success but I've struggled with other lakes before success came & this lake I hope proves no different. It's a quite a journey.
I've had alot of fun this year in the events I've attended & thank my sponsors & above all our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ for another great year.

CABA Mega Team Big Bucks / Ray Hubbard
Robby takes 2nd place honors on a stingy Ray Hubbard lake. My partner Ronnie & I lost a 3 1/2 lber first thing this morning and another bass close to 5 lbs with only 20 minutes left in the tournament. I guess it was tough on everybody today as we were amazed to have finished 2nd despite our miscues. We had alot of fun today. This truly is a ministry for Christ organization.

CABA Mega Team Big Bucks / Cedar Creek
Returning to his roots and encouraged by his wife to enjoy a day fishing on Fathers Day week-end, Robby wasn't expecting to have one of his best tournaments ever, simply fun and fellowship with old friends.
With passing fronts blowing throughout the day Robby found quality bites on deep breaklines with cover. Getting the big fish turned and out of the heavy cover was a huge task and Waterloo's Scrape rod played a critical roll in helping secure the win flawlessly. Robby's bait of choice for this tournament was a 3/4 oz football head jig. Robby's 5 fish limit weighing in at 26.56 lbs won him his 5th CABA team event by a margin of 10 1/2 lbs also winning Big Bass honors with a weight of 6.87 lbs.

"Robby Rose collects (29,889.00) at the 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event"
After 16 hours of play in a field of 6,400 entrants I found myself in 10th place after day 1. Pocket Kings & later pocket Queen's failed to hold up in all-in situations on day 2 to drop me down into 400th place going into day 3. I worked my way back to 180k in chips 10 hours into day 3 but an A-K offsuit took down my Pocket Jacks to end my tournament. Looking back I lost every hand I went all-in on & you can't have that happen & win one of these events. Despite the bad luck I was impressed with the skill portion of the game I played. It carried me to a decent payday in my 1st Pro event.
I think the patience we develope as fishermen & our abilities to focus over long periods of time may have helped me in the event. It was alot of fun meeting players from all over the world. It's amusing to see how in card tournaments , much like fishing ,that our passion for a sport can break down language barriers. I'm greatful for the experience.

Robby Rose goes solo & wins his 2nd Cedar Creek Bass Champs Event

Weighing in 1 of only 2 limits in a 236 team field Robby Rose wins his 2nd event on Cedar Creek lake. "My practice days were horrible! In one outting I only had 2 bites all day! From experience I knew the fish were there, and the key was to down size to 8lb line & fish small Strike King Jigs very slowly. Making the adjustment I managed 7 bites, 6 of which I landed. I felt heaviness & gently applied pressure in fear of a break off. My fish came off brushpiles on breaklines, in 8-12 ft. of water." Robby earned 20,000.00 for his fifth 1st place Bass Champs team event, including several bonus incentives.
